Our editorial standards
The Post covers Irish and Irish American life with curiosity, accuracy, and respect for people whose experiences differ.
Sources and attribution
We distinguish original reporting from sourced roundups, guides, commentary, and archive material. We link to primary sources where practical. We do not invent quotations, interviews, eyewitness accounts, or contributors.
Dates and corrections
Articles carry publication dates. A meaningful update should be identified; old stories retain their original dates. If we make a material error, we correct the article and explain the change.
Images and automated tools
Photographs should carry appropriate credits. Illustrations are identified as illustrations; synthetic images must not be passed off as documentary photography. Automated tools may assist research, drafting, or production, but they do not establish facts or replace source verification.
Opinion and commercial relationships
Commentary is labeled. Advertising, paid event promotion, and affiliate relationships are disclosed. Commercial relationships do not determine our editorial conclusions.
Community contributions
Essays, tips, and event submissions are reviewed before publication. We welcome people of mixed heritage and readers without Irish ancestry.
