An Irish night out, without waiting for St. Patrick’s Day

A sourced autumn guide to music and community gatherings in Chicago, Wisconsin, and on the Washington coast.

By The Post · · 4 min read

You don’t need to wait for March to find Irish culture close to home. Start with the kind of evening you actually want: listening to music, meeting people, or making a weekend of it.

Chicago: a session, then a Saturday gathering

The Irish American Heritage Center’s calendar lists a Thursday-night music session on October 15 and both Open House Chicago and a Halloween Hooley on October 17. Its address is 4626 N. Knox Avenue, Chicago. Follow the center’s listings for times, prices, and reservations.

These are separate events with different booking arrangements. Check the individual listing before heading over; a date in a calendar is not a ticket.

Wisconsin: songs and stories on October 23

Rory Makem’s concert at CelticMKE in Wauwatosa is announced for Friday, October 23. The organizer lists a 7:30 p.m. show and 6:30 p.m. general doors, with regular tickets at $40 from October 10. Confirm fees and availability on the official concert page.

If you’re planning further ahead, CelticMKE also lists the Byrne Brothers on November 13, a free Christmas boutique on November 21, and RUNA on December 6.

Washington: make a trip of it

Galway Bay’s Celtic Music Feis is announced for October 20–25 in Ocean Shores. The official ticket page is the place to check passes and scheduling. Book accommodation and transport separately, and confirm cancellation terms before paying.

Make it your evening

Ask about step-free access, seating, age limits, and the practical details that matter to you. Take a friend who has never been to an Irish event. You do not need family roots or specialist knowledge to enjoy a good night out.

A good read. A reason to go out.
